Connecting the CUAV Nora+ Flight Controller with the SlYl Rc7 Remote Controller

The CUAV Nora+ Flight Controller is a high-performance autopilot built on the STM32H743 processor with a Cortex-M7 core, running at up to 480MHz. With advanced industrial-grade IMUs, an ultra-low drift temperature compensation system, and full compatibility with ArduPilot firmware, it delivers precise, stable, and efficient control for academic research, commercial UAVs, and professional integration projects.

The SIYI UniRC 7 Remote Controller is a versatile handheld ground station featuring a dual-band 2.4/5 GHz transmission system with up to 40 km range and real-time 4K30 video decoding. Its 7-inch 1080p display, ultra-low latency, and intelligent channel switching ensure clear visuals and reliable operation in demanding environments.

In this Nora+ and Rc7 connecting tutorial, we demonstrate how to connect the CUAV Nora+ Flight Controller with the SIYI UniRC 7 Remote Controller, covering cable connections, port configurations, and software setup to ensure a stable link between flight control and ground station.

Wiring Instructions

The cables used are: Nora+ power module, RC7 receiver power cable, RC7 S. bus cable, RC7 telemetry cable, JST to XT60 adapter. The S.Bus port on the RC7 uses a GH1.25 2-pin connector, while the RC port on the Nora+ uses a 2.54mm 3-pin Dupont connector.

  1. Connect the UART1 port (GH1.25 3-pin) on the RC7 receiver to the TELEM1 port (6-pin) on the Nora+.
  2. Connect the Power C port on the Nora+ to the power module.
  3. Connect one end of the power module to the battery, and the other end to the adapter.
  4. Power the RC7 receiver using its XT30 connector on one end and JST2.54 connector on the other.

Ground Station Setup

Power on the RC7 remote controller and open QGroundControl (QGC).

  1. Navigate to Application Settings → Communication Links and click Add.
  2. Name the link, set Type to UDP, Port to 0, and Address to 192.168.144.20:19856.
  3. Click Add Address, then OK.
  4. Return to the Communication Links page, select the link, and click Connect.
  5. In the flight interface, confirm that the flight controller is connected to the ground station.

Radio and Data Link Configuration

  1. In QGC, go to Settings → Radio and move the joysticks to verify S.Bus connection.
  2. Open UniGCS, access Remote Controller Settings → Data Connection.
  3. Set Datalink1 to UDP, Baud Rate1 to 57600.
  4. In the Flight Controller interface, set Connection Type to UDPCl and Address to 192.168.144.20:19856.

Flight Interface and Control

Return to the main screen of UniGCS. The center black disc shows the real-time status of the flight controller. The top-left corner provides one-click takeoff and one-click landing functions, ensuring quick and efficient operation.
