FOC-based PMSM Algorithm Perfect Propulsion System
The FOC (Field Oriented Control)-based PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) algorithm, an optimized algorithm for improving the collaborative performance of the ESC, motor & propeller, makes the motor-propeller more balanced and creates a propulsion system that features high stability, reliability, and efficiency.
Compared with the BLDC motors, the PMSM has a lot of advantages such as low noise, small size, high power density, low pulsating torque, and high control precision.
Waterproof
The X8 propulsion system is waterproof to IPX7 standard. It’s applicable to almost all the harsh working conditions (for agricultural applications) like rainwater, pesticides, salt spray, high temperature, sand and dust. Combined with the outlets at the bottom of the motor mount (note: patented design), you can directly rinse the system with freshwater after use.
Multiple Protection Functions & Real-time Data Output
The ESC inside the Hobbywing XRotor Pro X8 power propulsion system offers a full set of protective features. First, these protections cover power-on self-test, abnormal startup voltage detection, overcurrent cutoff and motor lock-up protection.
Besides, the unit streams real-time operational data to the flight controller (FC). This data includes input throttle, output throttle, RPM, input voltage and current, output current, capacitor temperature and MOSFET temperature. As a result, the FC continuously monitors the ESC and motor power combo, which boosts the drone’s flight performance, efficiency and reliability.
Using the Hobbywing Data Link data box (note: item sold separately) can record the real-time running data of 8 ESC’s simultaneously and transmit those data to the FC via the Bus to form a closed-loop control system.)
High-brightness LED Indicator
The Hobbywing XRotor Pro X8 propulsion system also comes with a high‑brightness LED indicator. Furthermore, users can select its light color or turn off the light function. In addition, this LED displays real‑time system operating status and triggers alerts once abnormalities arise. As a result, this feature greatly boosts overall system safety.
High Thrust & Efficiency Propeller
The 3090 propeller made of special high-strength carbon fiber is solid and light, and guarantees great consistency and excellent dynamic balance. The optimized aerodynamic shape and unique blade tip design combined with the optimized electromagnetic design adopted by the motor and the high efficiency FOC (Field Oriented Control) algorithm implemented by the ESC guarantee the high thrust & efficiency of the propulsion system.
Super Impact Resistance
The high-strength CNC-machined aluminum alloy frame combined with the optimized structure design protect the motor components effectively, make the motor really impact-resistant, and greatly reduce the possibility of structure deformation/malfunction caused by drop or hit. Note: the internal strengthened cross beam structure (adopted by the motor) is an impact-resistant design patent;
the triple interlocking structure design is a Hobbywing patent.
Modular Design Easy to Maintain
Hobbywing XRotor Pro X8 brushless motor with built-in ESC propulsion system features a modular design. When it is damaged, you can change the damaged part like blades (single or two), the propeller adapter, or the integrated power combo (ESC+motor) easily and quickly.

IMPORTANT NOTE
- The Hobbywing XRotor Pro X8 brushless motor with integrated ESC serves agricultural tasks and farmland logistics. Primarily, agricultural UAVs deliver high thrust and heavy-load capacity, paired with strong anti-corrosion and anti-rust properties. However, bulky motors and ESCs reduce thrust efficiency when compared to aerial photography UAVs. Therefore, these drones prioritize durability and long-term reliability.
- On the other hand, aerial photography UAVs achieve excellent thrust efficiency. They require stricter reliability and stability standards than plant protection UAVs. Since their motors and ESCs adopt lightweight construction, operators should avoid running them in severe working environments.
