2 KX FC installation location requirements
1). It needs to face up, not upside down, try to keep it parallel to the fuselage;
2). In order to obtain the best flight effect, it is recommended to install the flight controller horizontally at the center of gravity of the aircraft. If the installation position of the flight controller is not in the center of gravity of the aircraft, please fill in the corresponding installation distance as required in the Basic->Installation->Installation Position interface of the K++ Assistant Software;
3). The flight controller has been internally damped, try to use hard 3M glue to fix the flight controller.
3 KX FC installation orientation requirements
As shown in the figure, select one of the installation directions, and select the corresponding configuration in the basic->installation->IMU direction interface in the K++ assistant software. (The direction of the red arrow represents the direction of the nose)

GPS module installation

2. Installation location requirements

1). Elevate the GPS module as much as possible, and keep it away from ESCs, power cables, and motors;
2). Try to ensure that you fly in an open and unobstructed environment;
3). Try to avoid flying in a magnetic interference environment;
4). Do not bring strong magnetic materials close to the compass, otherwise it may cause permanent damage to the compass.

Software debugging

Jiyi KX needs to use the K++ computer tuning software for tuning. Users can connect the flight controller and the computer USB port through a dedicated USB tuning cable to control the flight controller and aircraft related components (such as racks, remote controllers, expansion modules). Etc.) to view, set and download the flight log.

Assistant software download

Before using this product, you need to download and install Jiyi K++ flight controller assistant software, go to the official website http://www.jiyiuav.com/en/download.html to download and install.

Note: Jiyi K++ flight controller assistant software supports computers with Windows version above Win7, and does not support mobile phone installation.

Connect Assistant Software

After the software is downloaded to the computer, open the exe file of Jiyi K++ flight controller assistant software, and then connect the flight controller to the computer through a dedicated USB cable, as shown in the figure, click the USB connection icon in the middle of the interface, and it can be used normally.

Introduction to Assistant Software

Jiyi K++ flight controller assistant software mainly includes four functional interfaces: view, basic, advanced, and tools.
1. View
The viewing interface is mainly used to read and view the parameters. It can detect the basic parameters of the flight control, the installation data of the rack, the main parameters of the remote control, the sensitivity of the aircraft, the voltage protection setting parameters of the battery, and the connection of the expansion module Status or parameters.

2. Basic
Basic interface, including rack selection, installation direction selection, power configuration setting, remote control parameter setting, sensor data reading and calibration, and flight parameter setting functions.

3. Advanced features
The advanced function interface includes advanced sensitivity, protection function, fence module and expansion module.

4. Tools
The tool interface mainly includes the functions of upgrading the flight controller firmware, restoring factory settings, importing and exporting flight controller parameters, downloading the flight log, and registering the manufacturer and aircraft model of the flight controller. After filling in the aircraft and manufacturer information, you need to click the green + mark on the right to complete.

Basic function settings

When the flight controller is installed on the aircraft for the first time, you need to use the assistant software to perform the following basic function setting steps before it can fly normally.
1. Rack selection
Click to enter the basic interface of the assistant software, select the rack in the upper menu bar, as shown in the figure, select the correct rack according to the actual flight control aircraft. The direction of the yellow arm in the picture is the direction of the nose.

2. Installation settings
Click to enter the basic interface of the assistant software, select installation in the upper menu bar, as shown in the figure, choose the correct orientation according to the actual installation direction of the flight controller and GPS.
1).IMU orientation
The orientation of the IMU is the installation direction of the flight controller. The red arrow facing the IMU indicates the direction of the nose, and the gray arrow on the flight controller indicates the direction of the flight control. Please make sure that the orientation of the set IMU is consistent with the actual installation direction of the flight control. The wrong choice can lead to serious flight accidents.

2). GPS orientation
The red arrow of the GPS orientation indicates the direction of the machine head, and the black arrow indicates the GPS direction. Please make sure that the set GPS orientation is consistent with the actual GPS installation direction. If you use an external magnetic compass module, please ensure that the installation directions of the two modules are the same. The wrong choice can lead to serious flight accidents.

3).IMU location
For users with higher flight performance requirements, ordinary users do not need to set it. According to the distance between the flight controller and the center of gravity of the aircraft, correctly fill in the installation position of the IMU.

3. Power configuration
Click to enter the basic interface of the assistant software, and select the power configuration in the upper menu bar, as shown in the figure, including basic sensitivity setting, motor idle speed selection, motor sequence detection and motor serial number.

1). Basic gain setting
Basic sensitivity includes roll correction, roll damping, pitch correction, pitch damping, yaw, and vertical. Mainly used to adjust to adapt to the frame. The function definition of each sensitivity is shown in the table.

Steps of basic sensitivity debugging:
a. First adjust the vertical sensitivity, adjust it under no-load conditions, and slowly increase the vertical sensitivity until the aircraft twitches up and down, then fine-tune the gain back to not twitching.
b. Adjust the roll/pitch damping sensitivity again, press 10% from low to high slowly, until the aircraft has high-frequency jitter or motor noise increases significantly, and then fine-tune the sensitivity back to normal.
c. Then adjust the roll/pitch correction sensitivity, press 10% from low to high until the aircraft shakes, the motor sounds abnormal or exaggerated, and then fine-tune the sensitivity back to normal.
d. Finally adjust the yaw sensitivity. Generally, if the default parameters do not cause the nose to be locked, there is no need to adjust it. If the nose cannot be locked, increase the gain.
2). Motor idle speed selection
It is used to set the motor idling speed after the aircraft is unlocked. Disabled means no rotation, and from very slow to fast means the faster the speed can be reached by clicking.
3). Motor sequence detection
It is used to test the rotation direction of the motor. When using this function, please connect the power battery and remove the propeller.
After clicking the circular buttons M1~M4, the corresponding motor will rotate at idle speed. Please make sure that the motor serial number, rotation direction and schematic diagram are consistent.
4 Remote control settings
Click to enter the basic interface of the assistant software and select the remote control in the upper menu bar. As shown in the figure, you can select the remote control type, remote control flight mode channel setting, and fail-safe setting according to actual needs.
1). Remote control type
KX flight control currently supports SBUS type remote control.
2). Remote control calibration
Note: The remote control must be calibrated when using or replacing the remote control for the first time.
Click the “Joystick Calibration” button to start the joystick calibration. Turn on the remote control at the same time, move all the joysticks of the remote control back and forth at the maximum and minimum positions, and confirm that channels 1 to 4 of the remote control are roll, pitch, throttle, and yaw respectively. After calibration, restore channels 1 to 4 of the remote control to the middle position, and then click the “calibration end” button.
3). Airplane mode settings
The 5 channels of the remote control are used to map the flight mode. Three flight modes can be set in the K++ assistant software: ATT (attitude mode), manual operation (GPS mode), and AB execution (AB operation mode). The following chapters will explain each flight mode in detail. By default, the three positions of the 5 channel are in ATT mode, and the user can click on the drop-down menu on the right side of the three positions to reselect other modes.
4). Out of control protection settings
Loss of control protection is used to set the flight behavior when the remote control is out of control, including automatic return to home, automatic landing, automatic hovering, and landing after hovering.
5). Out of control continue route operation settings
After enabling the option to continue operation out of control, the remote controller in operation mode (route operation) will not execute the out-of-control protection behavior, but continue to perform the operation task. It is recommended to use this function in conjunction with the radar.

5. Sensor
Click to enter the basic interface of the assistant software, select the sensor in the upper menu bar, as shown in the figure, view the flight control IMU and GPS sensor parameters, and perform accelerometer calibration and magnetic compass calibration. When you click calibration, the assistant software will prompt Instructions, just follow the interface instructions.

1).IMU calibration
Place the aircraft horizontally and click the “IMU Horizontal Calibration” button. The calibration will be completed after 3 seconds. If the body is placed at a large tilt angle or shaken during calibration, it needs to be recalibrated.
2). Magnetic compass calibration
Click the “Magnetic Compass Calibration” button, the yellow LED light is always on, and enter the horizontal calibration. As shown in the figure, at this time, place the aircraft horizontally, rotate the nose clockwise until the green LED light is on, and enter the vertical calibration. As shown in the figure, at this time, the head of the machine is facing down and rotating in a clockwise direction until the LED flashes alternately in red, green and yellow, and the calibration is completed.

Precautions:
a. When the flight site changes, the magnetic compass needs to be recalibrated.
b. Please check whether there is strong magnetic field interference nearby before calibration.
6. Flight parameters
Click to enter the basic interface of the assistant software, and select the flight parameters in the upper menu bar. As shown in the figure, the user needs to set the parameters related to the flight speed of the aircraft according to the actual model and operating environment.
Maximum tilt angle: The maximum tilt angle in all flight modes.
Maximum ascent speed: Except for attitude mode, the maximum ascent speed that the pilot can control.
Maximum descent speed: Except for attitude mode, the maximum descent speed that the pilot can control.
Maximum flight speed: the maximum horizontal speed in attitude mode and GPS mode.

Advanced function settings

Advanced function settings include advanced sensitivity, protection function, fence module and expansion module.
1. High-level sensitivity

1). Parameter adjustment
The method of parameter adjustment is shown in the table:

2). Performance mode
It is used to adapt to different rack types. If the flight is unstable, different performance modes can be adjusted to achieve a stable flight effect.
3). Performance orientation
If the aircraft shakes significantly or the motor output noise is large, you can adjust the performance orientation to the vibration suppression. It is not recommended to adjust this parameter when the aircraft shakes little.
2. Protection function
Click to enter the advanced interface of the assistant software, and select the protection function in the upper menu bar. As shown in the figure, you can select the low voltage protection and PMU fault protection types, set the alarm voltage, realize the voltage calibration, and set the one-key return to home function.

1). Low voltage protection
The KX flight controller detects the battery voltage through the power module and provides low-voltage protection. The flight control provides six low-voltage protection behaviors: none, pump off, pump off + return home, pump off + hovering, pump off + landing after hovering, pump off + landing. The user can set and choose according to their needs.
2). PMU fault protection
The flight controller provides five PMU failure protection behaviors: shutdown, landing, returning to home, hovering, and landing after hovering. The user can set and choose according to their needs.
3). Alarm voltage
Set the first-level alarm voltage and the second-level alarm voltage value.
When the flight controller detects that the battery voltage reaches the first level alarm voltage, the flight controller LED light flashes three times; when the detected voltage reaches the second level alarm voltage, the yellow light flashes quickly, and the flight controller will trigger the low voltage protection behavior set by the user.
4). Calibration voltage
When the detection voltage of the flight controller is inconsistent with the actual battery voltage, the flight controller measurement voltage needs to be calibrated. You need to enter the actual battery voltage value in the “Measured Voltage” column to calibrate the flight control voltage. Make sure that the current voltage displayed by the flight controller is consistent with the actual battery voltage.
5). One-click return to home
Altitude: The lowest flying altitude when returning home with one key.
Landing speed: the speed of returning to home and landing.
Note: When setting the return altitude, please set a reasonable altitude based on the current flight environment to avoid obstacles on the return journey.
3. Fence mode
Click to enter the advanced interface of the assistant software, select the fence mode in the upper menu bar, as shown in the figure, set the aircraft’s altitude limit, distance limit, and trigger the behavior of the fence function.
1). Height restriction:
The height limit is used to limit the flying height of the aircraft. The user can set the height of the fence and turn on or off the height limit function according to the needs.
2). Distance limitation:
The distance limit is used to limit the horizontal distance that the aircraft can fly. The user can set the radius of the fence and turn on or off the distance limit function according to the needs.
3). Trigger behavior:
After reaching the fence boundary, the behavior of the aircraft
a. Restrictions, the aircraft will not be able to break through the fence and can fly freely within the fenced area.
b. Return home. When the aircraft reaches the fence boundary, it will trigger an automatic return home.
Notice:
a. The height limit function of the fence is invalid in the attitude mode.
b. The distance limit function of the fence is invalid in the attitude mode.

4. Expansion module
In this interface, you can select peripheral types, ground-like radar terrain following settings, obstacle avoidance radar module settings, K-BOX status information reading, RTK parameter reading and parameter setting.

Flight test

Remote control function introduction

1. Unlock and lock
1). Unlock
Unlock as shown in the figure. After unlocking, the motor enters the idle state.

2). Locking
a. Lock immediately
In any flight mode, after the motor is started, the lever operation shown in the figure will cause the motor to stop immediately.
Note: If an emergency occurs during the flight of the aircraft, please perform the operation of the stick in the figure to prevent accidents.

b. Automatic locking
All flight modes have automatic landing recognition function, which will automatically control the stop. When the aircraft is flying, the throttle will not cause the motor to stop.
2. Accelerometer calibration
The flight controller supports the single-sided calibration of the accelerometer by the remote control. The calibration method is as follows:
1). Place the aircraft horizontally
2). Move the return channel to the highest position, and the remote control sticks ↘↗ (American hand) and ↗↘ (Japanese hand) alternately flashing red, green and yellow before entering the calibration. After 1-2 seconds, the calibration is completed, and the LED light flashes normally.
3.Magnetic compass calibration
The KX flight controller supports the remote control to calibrate the magnetic compass. The method is as follows.
When the flight control is not unlocked, quickly turn the flight mode switch of channel 5 back and forth to enter the calibration of both sides of the magnetic compass. The yellow light is always on, and the horizontal calibration is entered. At this time, place the aircraft horizontally and rotate the axis clockwise in the direction of gravity until the green LED light is always on, and then enter the vertical calibration. At this time, the head is facing down and the axis of gravity rotates until the LED flashes alternately in red, green and yellow, and the calibration is completed.
4. Motor test
The motor test function includes motor sequence test and motion direction test. It is mainly used to detect whether the motor installation serial number and rotation direction are correct, so as to avoid accidents caused by installation errors.
1). Motor sequence test
When it is not unlocked, press the lever on the left side of the remote control ↙, and the lever on the right side to make a counterclockwise circle movement ↗↖↙↘ (American hand), then the motor sequence test can be triggered, and the motors will start idling in order from No. 1 to No. 8 .
Japanese hand motor test method of sticking: 1. Left stick ↙, right stick ↘ and hold; 2. Then left stick ↖, right stick ↙, left stick ↙, right stick ↘, the left stick keeps the left stick in the process of sticking. , Keep the right stick at the bottom, and repeat the four strokes in step 2 to trigger the motor sequence detection.
Note: Under normal circumstances, the motor sequence detection can be triggered by performing one stroke action. If the pole position is inaccurate, you need to repeat the four stroke actions in step 2 to trigger.
2). Motor direction test
After unlocking, the aircraft propeller runs evenly at low idle speed. Through the 4 channels of the remote control, it can be judged whether the front, rear, left and right steering are reversed. For example, when the forward lever is pushed down at idle speed, the propeller behind the aircraft rotates, and the propeller in front of the aircraft stops. The propeller on the side stalls, and the propeller on the right side of the aircraft rotates.
5. Remote control out of control protection
First, you need to correctly set the remote control out-of-control protection under the basics of the assistant software -> remote control interface. When the GPS satellite signal is good, if the receiver signal is lost, no matter which flight mode the aircraft is in, the flight controller will perform the fail-safe behavior. If the remote control signal is restored and you want to control the aircraft again, you need to switch the flight mode channel back and forth to gain control.

Flight mode introduction

1. Attitude mode
Attitude mode is suitable for returning to the central control user, IMU, GPS, magnetic compass and barometer participate in the work during the flight. The attitude mode can automatically switch the control mode according to the GPS signal. If there is no GPS or the signal is not good, you can use the fixed altitude flight. If the GPS signal is good, you can fix the altitude. The attitude mode has no ground-like function.
1). Working conditions
As the attitude mode requires GPS module to participate in the work, it must wait for the satellite search to be completed and the positioning accuracy meets the requirements. As shown in the figure below, when the LED indicates that the GPS signal is normal, GPS signal is good, or RTK positioning, you can unlock or enter this mode in this mode.

The flight controller can only be unlocked in attitude mode, and cannot be unlocked in other modes. After entering the attitude mode, the green LED light flashes once.
2). Operation instructions
After GPS star search is over, after the positioning is successful, the remote controller will switch the 5-channel mode switch to the attitude mode position. After the lever is unlocked, the throttle motor below 50% will be at idle speed, and the throttle above 50% will be pushed slightly to take off, and the throttle stick will be set to 50. At the% position, the aircraft will set its height. When the aircraft is in motion, all the joysticks of the remote control are returned to the center, and the aircraft will automatically brake and hover.

2. Manual operation mode
Manual operation mode, also known as GPS mode, in which IMU, GPS, magnetic compass and barometer participate in the work during the flight. This mode has the function of imitating the ground.
1). Working conditions
The working conditions are the same as the attitude mode. It cannot be unlocked in this mode. You need to switch to this mode after unlocking in the attitude mode. After entering the manual operation mode, the LED green light flashes double.
2). Operation instructions
After unlocking in the attitude mode, the remote controller switches the 5-channel mode switch to the manual operation mode position. When the throttle stick is placed at the 50% position, the aircraft will set altitude and set point. When the aircraft is in motion, all the joysticks of the remote control are returned to the center, and the aircraft will automatically brake and hover
3. Route operation mode
Airline operation mode, that is, the land parcel is planned through the mobile APP and the flight route is adjusted by the flight controller to operate autonomously.
1). Working conditions
After the star search is completed and the positioning accuracy meets the requirements (the LED red light does not flash or the red light flashes only), click Execute on the APP execution interface, and after setting the parameters, the flight controller will automatically unlock and take off. After entering the route operation mode, the green LED flashes four times.

4. Automatic return to home mode
The automatic return-to-home mode provides a safety guarantee for long-distance flight and loss of control protection.
1). Working conditions
After the star search is completed and the positioning accuracy meets the requirements (the LED red light does not flash or the red light flashes only), each time the user unlocks, the flight controller will automatically record the current position as the home point. After entering the automatic return to home mode, the LED green light flashes quickly.
2). Operation instructions
The automatic return to home mode can be triggered by the joystick or by the fail-safe protection. When the CH6 mode switch of the remote control is set to the one-key return home position or the flight control enters the fail-safe protection, if the aircraft is more than 2 meters away from the home point, the aircraft will automatically rise to the set altitude (if the current altitude is greater than the set return altitude, press Return to the current altitude). After reaching the home point, the aircraft will first hover in the air for about 3 seconds, and then slowly land. At this time, the flight status of the aircraft can be controlled through the remote control lever (but the throttle stick does not work), which is convenient for the aircraft to find a more suitable landing point. The aircraft will be locked automatically after the aircraft is completely on the ground. If the aircraft is less than 2 meters away from the home point, the aircraft will land on the spot and lock automatically.
Precautions:
The prerequisite for automatic return to home is that the aircraft’s home point has been recorded. If you need to use automatic return, please unlock it after GPS search is completed. Please refer to the appendix LED tri-color lights to indicate the status and meaning.
When the aircraft is very close to people, it is recommended not to switch to the auto-return mode to avoid accidents

Advanced function introduction

1. One-key return to home function
KX flight control supports remote control or APP to control the aircraft to return home with one key.
1). Settings
Before executing this function, you need to set the mapping channel, altitude and landing speed in the assistant software “Advanced” -> “Protection Function”.

2). Execution
Turn the switch of the return channel from the closed position to the open position to achieve one-key return.
2. Remote control out of control protection function
KX flight control supports the setting of remote control out-of-control protection.
1). Settings
Before executing this function, you need to enable the fail-safe protection in “Basic” -> “Remote Control” in the assistant software.

2). Execution
After the fail-safe function is enabled, the flight controller will execute the set fail-safe behavior after the remote control signal is interrupted.
3. Out-of-control continue operation function
KX flight controller supports setting the function to continue operation after the remote controller is out of control, so that the aircraft will continue to operate after the remote controller is out of control.
1). Settings
Before executing this function, you need to turn on the out-of-control and continue the route operation in the assistant software “Basic” -> “Remote Control”.

2). Execution
After enabling the option to continue operation out of control, the remote controller in operation mode (route operation) will not execute the out-of-control protection behavior, but continue to perform the operation task. It is recommended to use this function in conjunction with the radar.
4. Low voltage protection function
KX flight controller supports the setting of low voltage protection function.
1). Settings
Before executing this function, you need to enable the fail-safe protection in “Advanced” -> “Protection Function” in the assistant software. After the low-voltage protection function is turned on, the flight controller will perform low-voltage protection when the battery voltage is lower than the secondary alarm voltage.
5. Fence function
KX flight controller supports the assistant software to set the fence function.
1). Settings
Before executing this function, you need to set the height limit, distance limit and trigger behavior in the assistant software “advanced” -> “fence function”.

2). Execution
After the fence function is enabled, the aircraft will automatically execute the trigger behavior after reaching the set height and distance.
6. Log storage function

In the assistant software, click “Tools” -> “Log Download” and click Refresh.

After refreshing, click Download to download the flight log, which is saved in the newLogFile folder of Disk C by default.

7. Landing lock function
The KX flight controller supports the landing lock function. After the user lowers the throttle and landing, the flight controller will automatically lock the motor when it detects that the aircraft is landing.
8. No-fly zone function
The KX flight controller has set the airport area as a no-fly zone when it leaves the factory. If you need to lift the ban, you must first apply for the ban on the app device management page, and it will be approved by Jiyi Technology.
9. Vibration protection function
When the KX flight controller detects abnormal vibration of the aircraft, it will automatically switch to the safe mode to ensure the safety of the aircraft. In the safe mode, the user can manually control the plane to land.
10. Lost star protection function
When the KX flight controller detects GPS star loss or abnormal data, it will automatically switch to the safe mode to ensure the flight safety of the aircraft. In the safe mode, the user can manually control the plane to land.

The mobile APP connects to the aircraft and enters the main interface.

Camera settings

Set location:
To plan the plot/execute the job interface, click the upper right “…” setting switch, enter the “parameter setting”-“photo setting” interface, you can set the camera parameters.

The following describes each function:
1. Photo trigger signal:
The photo trigger signal is divided into: PWM value and high and low level.
PWM value: The camera’s photo is triggered by the PWM value signal. Only when this signal value is reached, the photo function can be triggered.
High and low level: The camera’s photo is triggered by a high and low level signal. Only when this signal value is reached, the photo function can be triggered.

2. Duration of trigger signal:
The duration of the trigger signal is divided into: 100, 200, 300. Unit: ms.
100: Only when the trigger signal lasts 100ms, will the camera function be triggered.
200: Only when the trigger signal lasts for 200ms, will the camera function be triggered.
300: Only when the trigger signal lasts for 300ms, will the camera function be triggered.

3. Minimum PWM: This setting is set in conjunction with the PWM value in the photo trigger signal. Generally, it is 1200, please set according to the actual situation.
4. Maximum PWM: This setting is set with the PWM value in the photo trigger signal. Generally it is 1800, please set according to the actual situation.
5. How to take pictures:
The photographing methods are divided into: none, isometric photographing, and isochronous photographing.
None: the camera function will not be triggered.
Isometric shooting: When the current aircraft position and the last shooting position are at the set distance, the shooting function will be triggered once.
Isochronous photographing: When the current aircraft photographing time and the last photographing time are the set interval time, a photographing function will be triggered.

6. Equidistant camera distance setting: When the current aircraft position and the last camera position are the set distance, the camera function will be triggered once.
7. Isochronous photographing time interval: When the current aircraft photographing time and the last photographing time are the set interval time, a photographing function will be triggered.
8. The minimum time interval for taking pictures: In order to prevent false triggering when taking pictures, the minimum time interval needs to be set.
9. Read/Save: First read the interface parameters, after setting the parameters, be sure to click to save the settings.

KML file import

1. First put the prepared KML file in the “mobile phone internal storage-kitJson” folder.

1). Only one KML file can be placed in the kitJson folder.
2) One KML file can contain multiple plots.
3) The altitude in the KML file must use absolute altitude (altitude above sea level).
4) To use 3D flight routes, RTK equipment is required.
