Skydroid GR02 Relay Receiver User Manual

Ⅰ、Product Introductions

To solve the challenges such as mountain obstruction, beyond-visual-range takeoff and landing in remote areas, and other complex operating environments, Skydroid has launched the new-generation GR02 with dual-band and dual-mode functionality. It supports collaborative operation of 2.4G and 5.8G.Master and slaver units can simultaneously receive video transmission and data transmission. Control can be switched manually via buttons or automatically to the other unit in case of signal loss, enabling seamless in-air control handover and AB point remote takeoff and landing to enhance operational safety.
GR02 can be only worked with G-series products.

Ⅲ、Interface Definition and Description

Ⅳ、Installation

4.1、Wiring Diagram

4.2、GR02 Installation:

Attention: For GR02, an extended feeder cable is required. The SMA connector shall be fixed to the fuselage shell and nut tightened to ensure a stable and reliable connection structure. Attach shock-absorbing foam to the bottom of the repeater for connection to the carrier, and install and tighten the antenna rod on the exterior of the fuselage.

Ⅴ、Operation of GR02

Latest version of device helper is rctool-3.1.9

GR02 Operating Procedure:

5.1、Remote Controller Device Helper Upgrade

The remote controller shall be connected to the network. Launch Device Assistant->Pop-up update->Tap Update Now->Installation complete.

Note: Ensure both the master and slave remote controllers have the same version–V2. (Device Helper->Advanced Options->999->Update Device->3. Update remote controller wireless module) system version: MEIG version date(Settings->About Phone->MEIG version)

5.2、Android Wireless Driver Upgrade

Open【Device Helper】->【Advanced Options】->【999】->【Upgrade Device】 ->【4.Upgrade Android Wireless Driver】->【Check Updates】->【Upgrade Now】,
Upgrade to the latest version.

5.3、Software Configuration

5.3.1 Frequency binding

(Ⅰ) Preparation: Master remote controller unit, slave unit, GR02
(Ⅱ) Frequency binding between master remote controller unit and GR02:

Note: Only the master remote controller unit can be used for frequency binding.

① Power on GR02 and wait 30 seconds. Then long time press binding button until the [⑤ Binding Indicator LED2] flashes blue rapidly, then release.

②On the remote controller, go to 【Device Tool】–>【Frequency Binding】 —>Click【Start Frequency Binding】

③A pop-up window will appear on the screen asking whether to proceed with frequency binding->Click [OK].

④—>Wait for successful frequency binding connection. A prompt indicating “START FREQUENCY BINDING” will appear, and the pairing status will show “connected”, [⑤Receiver Binding Indiactor LED2] lights up blue.

Keep master remote controller and GR02 within 50 cm during frequency binding.

5.3.2 Configure remote controller role & Control authority switch

(1) Open【Device Tool】->【Advanced Options】->Enter password【999】->【Configure remote controller role(GR02)】

(2) Set the paired remote controller to Master mode, select a channel as the control authority switch, then click Save Settings.
G20 supports 6th channels, corresponding to H(HOME) key. G12 supports 8th channels, corresponding B key.

Control authority switching definition:
Master: Minimum servo value (1050)
Slave: Maximum servo value (1950)

Note: This page is for setting the control authority switch, The example shows G20 with 6th channel assigned to switch H. Please refer to the actual remote controller used.

5.3.3 Slave unit Connection

⑦Turn on the slave remote control, go to【Device Tool】->【Advanced Options】 ->enter password【777】->【Configure remote control(GR02)】->【Slave】 ->Set the same MAC address as the master, then tap Save Settings.

⑨After GR02 is successfully connected with the master and slave remote controllers,both[⑤Receiver Binding Indicator LED2]和[⑥Receiver Connection Indicator LED1]on GR02 will stay blue. The master unit will automatically switch to 5.8G, and the slave unit to 2.4G.

5.4、GR02 Baud Rate Setting:

Enter【Device Tool】->【Advanced Options】->Enter password【999】,and sele【Baud Rate Setting】.

Receiver Serial Port: Click Read, set the baud rate for the receiver serial port, then save.

Note: The receiver serial port baud rate can only be modified when the remote controller is connected to GR02.

① Master & Slave units connecting GR02 via FLY Ground Station

FLY Ground Station can be used, if using our S2/S2mini flight controller or open-source APM flight controller. Install the latest version of FLY GCS in the remote controller.

Software download link:http://file.skydroid.xin/SkydroidFly.apk

For third-party flight controllers, use the ground station provided by the flight controller technical team.

(1)Open FLY GCS and tap the top-left icon.

(2)Tap Switch Connection;

(3)Select the connection mode with GR02 icon for the S2+GR01+G12/G30 series, then tap the screen to enter.

(4)FLY GCS Home Page Introduction.
Video and data transmission can be displayed simultaneously on both master and slave units.

② Control Authority Switching

(1)Check the control authority channel of the master remote controller When both the master and slave remote controllers are connected to GR02:
On the master remote controller, go to【Device Tool】->【Advanced Options】 ->Enter password【999】->【Configure Remote Control Role(GR02)】->then
tap Read Settings.G20 can be set to 6th channels, corresponding to the HOME button; G12 can be set to 8th channels, corresponding to the B button. LED off indicates the master unit, and LED on indicates the slave unit.

(2)For example:

Flight Example: A is the master(HOME button on remote controller, channel 6th ; LED off means the master has the aircraft control and data transmission(TX) rights) functions, B is the slave.
A-B:When master A controls the aircraft from its position to within the line-of-sight coverage of slave B at point B, presses the HOME button of the master A (channel 6th), and the button LED turns on (maximum servo value at this time). Slave B at point B will then obtain aircraft control authority.

B->A:When slave B controls the aircraft from its position to within the line-of-sight signal coverage of master A at point A, presses the HOME button of the master A (channel 6th), and the button LED turns off(minimum servo value at this time). Master A at point A will then regain aircraft control authority.

Notes:
(1)The remote controller with control authority has SBUS control authority and data transmission (TX) function. Both master and slave can simultaneously display video transmission and data transmission (RX).
(2)The button switching function is only available on the master channel. Control authority is prioritized on the master unit, which can transfer aircraft control authority to the slave via the master control unit switch. Once control authority is transferred to the slave, the slave unit obtains control authority. When the slave controls the aircraft back into the master’s signal coverage (line-of-sight range), the master unit can use the control authority switch to regain control.
(3)If either the master or the slave unit disconnects, control authority automatically switches to the other unit.
(4)To avoid relay switching failure due to incorrect settings, test the control authority switching function among the master, slave, and GR02 at a close range before flight (check via the ground station page and remote control switching mode switch).

DO NOT modify the IP address when the remote controller is used in relay mode. IP Addresses:

Relay Receiver: 192.168.144.10 (fixed, cannot be modified)
Master: 192.168.144.11
Slave: 192.168.144.12 (auto-modified when setting as the slave unit)
